Any decision taken by a government can be reviewed if it is wrong and illegal, said Town and Country Planning Minister, Vishwajit Rane, suggesting that his decision to suspend the outline development plans (ODPs) adopted by the previous government was a well-studied action.
Rane, on Friday, also said that all suspensions will be lifted by June 17 as by then reports will be submitted to the Board which will then be adopted.
“Everyone should understand and the confidence of the people of Goa should be tuned to a system that anything can be opened any time if it is wrong and illegal,” Rane said.
The TCP minister was responding to queries of journalists at the side lines of a mahila morcha event in Mapusa.
On Thursday, Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo had questioned the rationale of the minister of suspending the ODPs and whether every government coming to power will go on changing the development plans once adopted.
Continuing, Rane said the government wants entrepreneurs who do business by following the law of land.
“We want business sentiment…We want people to invest in the state of Goa. Everybody who has got their rightful things will continue to do business in Goa. But if somebody has taken tenanted land or converted a non-development slope or a khazan lands (will have to face the music)...,” Rane said.
Continuing with his tirade against the Leader of Opposition without naming him even once, he said some individuals have partnered with people of New India and Delhi to set up businesses in the State through dubious means.
“Who is bringing people? Who has partnered with people coming from North India, Delhi and other places? Who are these 30 percent, 40 percent partners? This will come in the report which I will table on the floor of the House. So just be a little patient,” he said, giving a glimpse of what was coming in the monsoon session of the Assembly.
The TCP minister further stated that whatever he was doing was transparent and people of the industry and every official of the TCP was on board.
When queried whether there was a possibility of anyone going to jail, he said, “The law will decide.”
