The Tourism Department on Wednesday asked all watersports operators offering yachting services to follow the rules under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982 and Rules, 1985.
As per the official circular, these operators must register their activities within 15 working days from the date of the notice. The department said this instruction was issued because many operators were found running yacht services without the required NOC, licence, or permission.
“We are committed to streamlining watersports activities in the state to ensure safety, transparency, and accountability. Unregulated operations pose a risk not only to tourists but also to the environment. We urge all operators to come forward and regularize their services under the existing legal framework,” Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said.
He also said that this step is part of a wider plan to improve compliance among tourism operators and support responsible tourism in line with Goa’s vision for a well-regulated and sustainable tourism sector.
