Politicians play safe, ride motorcycles
with helmets in Vasco
VASCO: Mindful of adverse reactions to some politicians riding two-wheelers without helmets in recent times, politicians in the port town played safe during a motorcycle rally in the port town on Monday.
Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida and MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik were seen riding motorcycles with helmets.
Power Minister Milind Naik and RDA Minister Alina Saldanha decided not to wear helmets, but they escaped attention, and scrutiny, by opting to be pillion riders during the rally.
There was no such care or concern among most of the other two-wheeler riders, including some councillors, who were without their helmets during the rally.
The traffic police preferred to remain silent in the matter and no action was taken against those violating the helmet rules in the city.
