Yuri questions spending on State events

PANAJI

Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao on Sunday slammed the government for continuing to splurge tax-payer money on events instead of channeling the funds for useful infrastructure.

Alemao made the statement in the context of the government reportedly spending a whopping Rs 16 crore on the ‘Purple Fest’ even as some facilities at the Sanjay School for the specially abled remain shut.

“It is most unfortunate that the government is so obsessed with events. I understand that this year a whopping Rs 16 crores will be spent on Purple Fest-2024. This amount was enough to build a well equipped ‘Care Centre for Persons with Disabilities’,” Alemao said.
