Devotees from across the State and neighbouring states thronged Zambaulim on Tuesday to celebrate the popular Gulalotsav at Zambaulim.
The festival commenced late Tuesday afternoon, with many devotees visiting the Zambaulim temple to seek darshan of Lord Shri Damodar. Locals later smeared gulal on each other as part of the festivities.
Gulalotsav is celebrated in the of Phalgun which coincides with Shigmotsav festivities. Various cultural and entertainment programmes are being organised by the Mathagramastha Hindu Sabha Margao from March 30 to April 6.
On Tuesday, devotees participated in the religious procession of the idol of Shri Damodar and sang prayers and also chanted mantras of Lord Damodar.
The devotees played with colour, which they believe is lucky and auspicious. Many also took a dip in the nearby river. Many people from Margao visit the place to pay obeisance to Lord Damodar at Zambaulim.
