A large number of residents from Zuarinagar paid rich tributes to former CM late Manohar Parrikar at a special programme organised near the Old Petrol Pump in Cortalim by BJP MLA Alina Saldanha. The programme was attended by over 500 villagers of Sancoale, Upasnagar and Zuarinagar.
Memories of Parrikar seemed to make the residents emotional as many were seen with teary eyes during the programme.
It may be recalled that Parrikar had announced that the Zuarinagar slums would see a big transformation with plans to rehabilitate all the slums of Zuarinagar through Goa Rehabilitation Board even as the government had planned to provide neat and clean housing to all with proper sanitation facilities and clean surroundings.
“A meeting will be called and a plan will be made after taking the residents into confidence before the government decides to go ahead with the rehabilitation. A poor person can also live in a nice house with good facilities and this will be proved here as the government will provide all support. There is no better place than Zuarinagar to realise PM Narendra Modi’s dream that all people should have their own house by 2022 and also implement Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan at the same time,” Parrikar had announced.
