‘Aquemkars placed their trust in me’

Margao MLA Digambar Kamat has said that Deepa Shirodkar’s victory was never in dispute since the candidate backed by him had been wining from the ward over the last 15 years on the basis of performance and love of Aquemkars.

MARGAO:
Taking a dig at his political opponents, Kamat prayed to Lord Dambab to forgive those who did not tread the right path in the by-election and prayed that they may be given wisdom to walk the righteous path.
Apparently referring to the recorded tapes played by his opponents to misguide the electorate during the campaign, Kamat said Lord Dambab stands by only those who walk the right path.
“My victory was not in dispute. The only question left was the victory margin. This ward had stood by me since the last 15 years. I had told the media on Sunday that we will win by a bigger margin,” he said, while thanking his workers, including women, for displaying women empowerment in the by-poll.
He pointed that late Ashlesha had won the seat by a margin of around 80 votes, adding that Deepa’s victory by a margin of 238 votes showed that people of Aquem have placed their trust in him and his workers.
