‘Bhumiputra Bill, a poll agenda’

‘Bhumiputra Bill, a poll agenda’

VALPOI

Claiming that the Bhumiputra Adhikari Bill is a big conspiracy by the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections, Congress and MGP leaders, as well as social activists from Valpoi, said the bill would not benefit Sattari taluka in any way.

This was stated at a news conference addressed by Valpoi Block Congress President Dashrath Mandrekar, Block Congress Mahila President Roshan Desai, MGP leader Suhas Naik, social activists Suresh Kodalkar, Devidas Gaonkar and Vithoba Gaonkar.

They also rejected a recent news conference addressed by others in support of the Bhumiputra Bill and said it was wrong to say that people of Sattari had welcomed the bill.

“There are many flaws in the Bhumiputra Bill and it should have been discussed in detail before rushing to pass it in the Assembly,” said Mandrekar.

“It was ridiculous that some elements in Sattari taluka have welcomed the bill. The BJP is trying to regain power through the backdoor, and the Bhumiputra Bill is one such agenda. The bill is a big conspiracy by the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections,” he added.

MGP leader Suhas Naik questioned the government for passing the bill without taking Bhumiputras into confidence and demanded that the bill be withdrawn, amended and re-introduced in the Assembly.

Block Congress Mahila President Roshan Desai said the bill would not benefit Sattari taluka in any way.

“The bill is full of errors and needs to be corrected. There is opposition to the bill from all over Sattari taluka,” said Desai.
