Claiming that the Congress had let its support to get Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte elected in Porvorim constituency, the Porvorim Block Congress Committee has demanded that Khaunte support the North Goa Congress candidate Girish Chodankar.
Addressing a news conference in Porvorim, the Porvorim Block Congress Committee President Adv Shankar Phadte said Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte had got elected on the support of Congress party in the 2017 assembly election.
“He, however, he lent his support to the BJP and became a minister. Since he is still an independent candidate, he should come out and declare his support to the Congress candidate for North Goa Girish Chodankar,” said Phadte.
Porvorim Block Congress Committee General Secretary Wilber Ticlo said there are about 1,000-1,200 bogus voters in Porvorim constituency and alleged that these voters have been registered during the last four years. “The Porvorim Block Congress will soon file a complaint with the election commission in this regard,” said Ticlo.
“Khaunte had recently raised his voice against election cards made by migrant workers employed at a company. If he is all that serious in the matter, why has an FIR still not registered against the company officials,” asked Ticlo.
