Addressing problems of water shortage in Cortalim, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said the PWD would lay a new pipeline to supply water from Verna to Goa Dental College at Bambolim at a cost of Rs 262 crore, adding that the project would be completed within a year.

VASCO: "I am aware of the problem of water shortage in Cortalim and PWD will lay a new 600 mm underground pipeline," said Dhavalikar. Responding to complaints that the stretch of road between Cortalim Cross junction and Verna slope was without illumination and was an accident prone zone due to movement of heavy machinery in the area, he also promised to illuminate the entire stretch of road within a month. "I will make sure that the entire stretch of road will have street lights within a month," he assured.
Admitting that the prevailing government compensation is too low, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar assured that Cortalim farmers affected by the construction of the new Zuari bridge would be given better compensation and that too, for an entire year.
