Chairman of Goa Educational Development Corporation Kanta Patnekar stated that teachers should consider teaching as a mission and work sincerely to make the students capable of facing the challenges of life.
the goan I networkrPORVORIM rrPatnekar was speaking at a programme ‘Guruvandan-Chattra-Abhinandan’ organized by Bharat Vikas Parishad to felicitate teachers and students at Sanjay School, Porvorim. r“The standard of education in Goa has gone down due to apathy of some teachers. The students are seen mentally disturbed, due to which they are committing suicides and is a bad sign. The teacher should give quality education to the students,” said Patnekar. rPatnekar further said teaching is a noble profession and teachers should become role models for the students. “The teachers should strive for all-round development of the students. Social quotient and physical quotient of students are equally important as intelligent quotient. Education should bring social transformation,” said Patnekar. rChairman of Sanjay Centre for Special Education, Guruprasad Pawaskar, said special children are also part of the society and they should be treated on equal footing as that of normal students. r On the occasion, 15 teachers, 15 students who secured first, second and third places at SSC and Higher Secondary Examination of Goa Board and 30 students from Porvorim and surrounding areas were felicitated by the guests. The students took blessings from the teachers. rPresident of Goa Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Suraj Prabhudessai welcomed the gathering, Sneha Kulkarni compered the programme.
