‘Was given plain photocopied case papers’

Unhappy with the case papers provided to him, the father of the minor girl said the CBI, instead of providing attested photocopies of the case, had provided him with plain photocopies of the case at the last minute on Thursday.

VASCO:
Speaking to The Goan, the father said: “For last several months, I was after the CBI to provide me with attested copies of the case papers, so that I could study and submit my reply to the court.”
“Despite several requests, the CBI failed to provide me the case papers, and minutes before the hearing on Thursday, the CBI officials handed me a huge bundle of photocopies of the case papers. I brought it to the notice of the judge and sought adjournment,” added the father.
“I was in a hurry and did not check whether the documents given to me by the CBI are attested or not. When I reached home in the afternoon, I checked the documents and to my surprise, I found that the documents were not attested and were plain photocopies.
Worst still, some documents that are handwritten are barely legible. However, I will try and study the matter and whatever I cannot understand from the poor print or handwriting quality, I will bring it to the notice of the judge on March 30,” stated the father.
When asked whether he would argue the case, he said he is an MA in political science and had some knowledge of law.
“In the past on at least four occasions, I argued my own case and even raised objections to some arguments,” said the father.
