100 history sheeters identified in NG ahead of festive season, new history sheeters being identified

PANAJI: The North Goa police have identified 100 history-sheeters in its jurisdiction, on whom a close vigil is being maintained ahead of the festive season.

According to the North SP Akshat Kaushal, in the past seven days, around 85 history sheets have been thoroughly checked -- a move to keep a close watch on individuals with a criminal past and ensure their activities are being monitored.

"In a concerted effort to enhance law and order in the district, the North Goa Police have intensified its focus on criminal elements over the last week. A series of proactive measures have been implemented to curb criminal activities and maintain public safety," he stated.

Surprise night checks are being held with Duty Officers instructed to carry out surprise night checks at the residences of history sheeters during the night.

"Enhanced surveillance has been mounted on all known criminals across the district to deter any potential criminal activity and enable swift action if necessary," he added.

Further, all police stations in the district have been directed to actively identify cases to create a list of new history sheeters so as to keep track of emerging criminal elements and address potential threats early.

"Coordination has been established with the District Collector to initiate externment proceedings against habitual offenders. This will further strengthen the efforts to prevent criminal activities by removing repeat offenders from the district if necessary," the SP said.
