In this regards, a meeting was held of the volunteers at the Basilica of Bom Jesus in which the volunteers were briefed about the security and safety aspect, and the role that they will play in ensuring smooth conduct of the Exposition.
Speaking at the meeting, Fr Henry Falcao, Convenor of the Exposition Committee of the Archdiocese, said that the Exposition is a spiritual celebration, a celebration of faith and that the volunteers should help the people in having a spiritual experience.
"We are at the service of the people. Let us all be servants," Fr Falcao added.
Later, Fr Falcao informed that in all, 1200 persons have registered as volunteers till date.
"But not all of them will be deployed throughout the 45 days. Some will be volunteering for a few days, some for many days," Fr Falcao informed while adding that the volunteers have been briefed on the aspects of safety and security.
"This is the first meeting of volunteers which was organised to make them aware of their responsibilities and duties," Fr Falcao stated.
A police official informed that the volunteers have been briefed on the security point of view and that such briefings will be periodically held till the start of the Exposition. "Every volunteer will have their given task," the official said.
