The Centre has set a target of June 2024 for Goa to complete its balanced 54 per cent of the works under the Smart City Mission. It’s been over seven years “ May 2016- since Panaji was selected to be developed as “Smart City” by the Union Ministry for Housing and Urban Affairs. Goa’s capital city was one amongst the 100 cities selected under the Smart City Mission.
However, since the execution of work- the nodal agency- Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited- has been in the middle of criticism due to faulty prioritisation of projects and delayed completion work, thus putting public to continuous hardship.
The Minister for State for MoHUA Kushal Kishore said that the Goa has been granted extension upto June 2024 to complete their pending projects.
As per the revised data released by the Ministry, of the 35 projects worth Rs 936.75 crore being implemented by IPSCDL, 16 projects worth Rs 341.79 crore have been completed & 19 projects worth Rs 594.96 crore are at various stages of implementation.
