2 Sanguem councillors postpone agitation amid PWD assurances

SANGUEM

Two Sanguem councillors have postponed their proposed agitation in Sanguem, which had been planned if the damaged road from Dando to Sanguem police station was not repaired by July end, following assurances from the PWD that the work would begin from August 2.

The two councillors, Messiah Da Costa and Sangameshwar Naik, said PWD Assistant Engineer Vasuraj Karmalkar had informed them that a tender to repair the damaged portion of the road, which was dug to lay a water pipeline, was already issued and that the contractor would start the work.

He informed that since the work involves concrete, the contractor needed some time to arrange the concrete mixture and the issue of the damaged road would be resolved soon.

Da Costa and Naik along with citizens from Sanguem had staged a road blockade on July 13 to demand the immediate repair of the damaged portion of the road, which had caused problems for motorists.

During the agitation, PWD authorities had assured to get the road repaired by July end and the councillors had threatened to lead a fresh agitation if the PWD did not honour its promise.
