2 warehouses raided in Ponda and Margao

The Crime Branch of Goa Police conducted a raid each in Ponda and Margao and successfully seized illegal gutka and tobacco products worth over Rs 15 lakh.

Two separate teams of Crime Branch led by Police Inspector Filomena Costa, Laxi Amonkar, Anant Gaonkar and Satish Gaude conducted simultaneous raids on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at two warehouses in Ponda and Margao where gutka and tobacco products were found stocked in large quantities. The articles were seized and are estimated to be valued at over Rs 15 lakh.

Two FIRs have been registered under Goa Public Health Act against the owners of the warehouses Pravin Matkar from Ponda and Vaman Fallari from Margao for illegally stocking banned gutka and tobacco articles.
