3 Ugandan nationals arrested for illegal overstay

MAPUSA

A special operation was conducted by the Anjuna Police in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of three Ugandan nationals residing in Goa without valid travel documents.

The three women, identified as Nakawoya Shanita (32), Aminah Nakayiza (28), and Nassaka Kiweewa Sumayiya (22), were intercepted after a lengthy search in the Vagator area.

According to police reports, the women were unable to produce any valid documents authorising their stay in India.

As a result, three separate cases were registered at Anjuna Police Station against Shanita, Nakayiza and Kiweewa.

The charges brought against the trio include violations of the Foreigner Order of 1948 and the Foreigners Act of 1946. The police have initiated further investigations into the matter.

Anjuna Police officials have emphasised that strict action will be taken against those found in violation of immigration laws, and efforts will continue to identify and address similar cases.
