PANAJI

In a bid to strengthen academic leadership in higher education, 30 faculty members from colleges and Goa University underwent an intensive five-day Academic Leadership Programme (ALP) at the Infosys training centre in Hyderabad, from September 8 to 12.

Organised by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) and the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC) in collaboration with Infosys Springboard, officials said that the fully residential programme is part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s thrust on effective governance and leadership in higher education institutions.

“The training, conducted by professional corporate trainers from Infosys, included modules on effective communication, teamwork, decision-making, team management, collaborative learning, and leadership strategies. Faculty were also introduced to emerging domains such as Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. The workshop concluded with group presentations and evaluations,” a DHE official said adding, Secretary Education Prasad Lolayekar and DHE Director Bhushan Savaikar flagged off the second batch of the programme.

As a follow-up, the trained faculty will propagate over 20,000 free Infosys Springboard courses including AI, time management, and personality development among staff and students across Goa’s higher education institutions.
