Goan visitors to face traffic diversions in Belagavi today

Cops issue plan for Eid Milad procession

BELAGAVI

Goans have been advised to avoid travelling to Belagavi on Sunday, as the police have issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the Eid Milad procession scheduled to take place on Sunday.

The arrangements will be in force from 8 am until the completion of the procession to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and public safety. The procession will feature religious groups, cultural teams, decorated vehicles, and large public participation, which is expected to cause congestion in several parts of the city. 

The Eid Milad procession will pass through several key areas in the city, affecting movement on the main city roads right from Tilakwadi second gate, Congress Road, Ganpat Galli, Ramdev Galli, Club Road, College Road.

Several roads will be crowded with people taking part in the procession, which is likely to last throughout the day.

Traffic will be diverted from outside the city through alternative routes, and heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the procession route.

The police have also imposed parking restrictions on the procession route, and hence, parking has been allotted at District Stadium, Azamnagar Ground, Auto Nagar Ground and other areas in the outskirts of the city.

“From 8 am on September 14, no vehicles will be allowed to remain parked along the procession route, and strict action will be taken against unattended vehicles,” said Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse.

He has appealed to people to maintain law and order and co-operate with the police while using alternative routes to travel via Belagavi city.
