In a tragic incident, a six-year-old boy died of drowning while playing in a swimming pool in a hotel in Candolim on Tuesday.
The deceased, who is a resident of Mumbai had come down to Goa for a holiday along with his family and another family.
On Tuesday afternoon, the boy along with other children were playing in the pool while the parents were a little away from the pool, police informed.
Police said that one of the parents noticed the boy struggling in the swimming pool.
The boy was immediately shifted to Dukles Hospital in Candolim from where he was referred to Primary Health Centre in Candolim where he was declared brought dead.
After inquiring with the family and confirming that there was no foul play, police sent the body for post mortem.
The autopsy report confirmed death due to asphyxia due to drowning.
Later, the body was handed to the parents who have already left for Mumbai with the body.
Police have registered the incident as unnatural death.
Further investigation is on.
