As many as 71 foreign delegates from the G20 nations will attend the 3rd Developmental Working Group (DWG), slated from May 9 as Goa is set to host its second G20 meeting.
The three-day-long meeting will focus on sustainable development issues with the representatives expected to discuss and work towards finding solutions to global issues related to sustainable development, including digital principles, green transitions, and enhancing international coordination and partnerships.
“The 3rd DWG is looking at how we can accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). We are aiming at some very bold actionable outcomes, including the high-level principles, which are pertaining to lifestyle for the environment. The meeting will also focus on ways to accelerate transitions. The world is in the midst of a digital revolution and so we are also looking at enhancing our global climate ambitions,” Joint Secretary of the Ministry of External Affairs K Nagraj Naidu said.
Sanjit Rodrigues, Nodal Officer G20 added that various aspects are being thoroughly looked into to ensure a hassle-free experience for the VIP delegates in Goa. “Security measures have been thoroughly looked into, to ensure the safety and security of visiting delegates at all times, with a recee being conducted. Police personnel have been deployed at all venues during the meet. Men in uniform and civil attire will be monitoring movement and security round the clock,” he said.
Rodrigues said that various departments and organizers have been working tirelessly to lay down the required infrastructure and set in place preparations for the G20 meetings wherein Goa’s culture, tradition, cuisine and art are also depicted.
