MARGAO: The Congress Party has organised an Essay Competition to commemorate 75 years of Goa Revolution Day on topics related to past, present and future of Goa.
The inputs received from the essays shall be incorporated by the Congress Party in its Action Plan for Goa. The prize distribution of the competition will be held on June 18 at the at the hands of AICC Goa Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao, stated Congress President Girish Chodankar.
Chodankar said the essay Competition is organised with the main intention of understanding the views and aspirations of youth for the future of Goa. He appealed to the young talent to participate in large numbers and contribute their ideas in building a better Goa.
“This is an initiative by the Congress Party to encourage young, energetic Goans and know their ambitions to fulfill dreams of all those brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to protect and preserve our beautiful Goa. I appeal to all to participate and share your aspirations”, stated Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
The competition is in four categories, Group A of age group 14 years to 16 years with the topic "18th June 1946 and People's Uprising" wherein the participant can write an essay in maximum 1000 words. Group B will comprise of age group 16 years to 18 years with the topic "Goa at 60: What did we achieve?" wherein the participant can write an essay in maximum 1500 words.
The third category of Group C of age group 18 years to 21 years with the topic "Vision Goa 2030" asks participants to write an essay in maximum 2000 words. The fourth category of Group D of age group 21 years to 30 years invites essays on the topic "Is Censorship of Social Media Justified?" in maximum 2500 words, informed Himanshu Tivrekar, Social Media Incharge of the Congress Party.
The prizes for Category A and B will be Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 for first, second and third place respectively, while prizes for Category C and D will be Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 for first, second and third place respectively. All the participants will be given participation certificates.
Entries can be sent by email on [email protected] on or before Sunday, June 13, 4 pm along with a copy of birth certificate or Aadhaar Card. The cut-off date for age will be May 31, 2021, Tivrekar informed. Participants can contact the organisers on 8888338800 for any queries.
