MAPUSA
Questioning the silence of the chief minister on the series of orders of Goa Lokayukta, Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday demanded action against Michael Lobo who was declared ‘unfit’ by the outgoing Lokayukta.
AAP has also slammed the Chief Minister for his failure to come out with concrete plans to save the Mhadei River.
“The Lokayukta has exposed a series of scams but the government has failed to take any action on the recommendations made by Justice P K Misra. Whose interest is the government protecting?” asked Rahul Mhambre, interim convenor of AAP.
The AAP leader was addressing a new conference in Mapusa.
Continuing, Mhambre said Lobo had the audacity to question the intentions of Lokayukta just because
he knows that BJP government will do everything to protect him.
“Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has completely ignored the remarks of Lokayukta on Michael Lobo. How can he allow Michael Lobo to remain as a minister? How can he ignore the remarks made by Lokayukta on Lobo’s ability?” the interim convenor questioned.
Before demitting the office of Goa Lokayukta, Justice (Retd) Mishra had issued orders against a series of scams starting from labour gate to beach cleansing scam.
AAP also slammed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for focusing on the faults of Congress but failed to put across his government’s plans to save Mhadei River.
“Ten years of Congress, 8 years of BJP, Goans are losing mother Mhadei and both these parties are busy playing blame game,” Mhambre said.
“You took 12 MLAs of Congress to form your government. Did you even think of what they have done to our Mother Mhadei at that time? Do you think Goans are fools? What you have done to protect Mhadei?” he added.
He said BJP has compromised the interest of Goans to the Centre.
“Since Karnataka has more Parliamentary seats, the Centre is favouring Karnataka’s move protecting its political interest. Goa has only two MPs and therefore, Centre is least interested in listening to Goans,” he added.
On the Covid front, the AAP interim convenor said the government can neither predict nor control the spread of coronavirus in Goa.
“Under AAP’s pressure, the Health Minister announced Oximeter kits for home isolation patients. Can CM Sawant ‘predict’ and tell us when these kits will be given to the home isolation patients?” Mhambre queried.
“Reinfection of two GMC doctors cannot be ignored, the risk is increasing day by day, more and more people have started coming in, the way the government is working only God can protect us from this inefficient and clueless government,” said Rahul Mhambre.
