The Aam Aadmi Party has criticised the State government over the delay in the implementation of Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board approved projects.
In a press release, AAP stated that only 50% of IPB projects were sanctioned creating a massive loss of opportunities for Goan youth. Had these all been implemented, more than 15,000 jobs would have been created for the youth. The State government is least interested in providing jobs to Goan youth and is only interested in providing jobs to its people.
AAP further states that as per the Minister for Industries, Trade and Commerce said, the IPB received proposals for 174 industrial projects, of which 136 projects were approved and only 66 industrial projects became operational. 136 approved projects had the potential to create 15,043 jobs, but in reality, 6,116 jobs were created due to the slow pace of project implementation.
Unemployment has become a major plank for AAP which is attracting thousands every day to their booth level meetings across the state. The high rate of unemployment due to corrupt practices and, the situation brought about due to the pandemic, which the present government has neglected, has attracted people to AAP. Every day AAP is holding registrations across 75 booths and yatras in two Assemblies across the state. AAP is seeing thousands of Goans support Kejriwal's job guarantee daily, the release added.
“The inefficiency of the government executing these projects has proportionally caused an increase in the rate of unemployment in Goa. Where in 15,043 jobs should have been generated, only 6,116 jobs were created. The present government is currently responsible for the joblessness of Goan youth," said Rahul Mhambre, AAP Goa convenor.
Valmiki Naik, AAP Goa lashing out said, “The government's behaviour is irresponsible. It should take the onus of the present unemployment scenario prevailing in the State. This is why youth is looking for an alternative in AAP.
