Advising Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to listen to good advice and not make political statements, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) State President Amit Palekar invited the CM to visit Delhi along with a delegation to experience for himself the Delhi model of education and learn from it.Speaking to reporters in Panaji, on Thursday, Palekar further said the AAP will bear all the expenses incurred.
“In Delhi, there is a reverse trend as parents are sending their wards to government schools which shows that there is some benefit to the students. We are speaking from experience and not for the sake of it.”
“I invite the chief minister to appoint a delegation of teachers from different parts of Goa, department officials and if need be, even ministers. We will take them to Delhi at our own cost and show them how we will intend to save the schools from merger or closure,” he stated.
“The government should try to learn from the Delhi model of education and not just make a political statement. When we ask for running the schools, this egoistic government says it doesn't want advice from political parties on the issue. This shows that the government doesn't want to learn, doesn't want to listen because of ego problems and it is playing with the future of the children,” Palekar added.
He further alleged that the merger of government schools is nothing but an attempt to favour private players, including the office-bearers of BJP.
“Why are private schools fostered in the past 12-14 years and government schools shutting down. It is the government which is responsible for the promotion of private schools, including those belonging to BJP office-bearers,” Palekar alleged.
“If the government doesn't want to accept our offer in the form of resources, then it will show its arrogance. The CM needs to learn to listen to the advice and the voice of the Goans. If you are going to further the interests of the private players and your party office-bearers, we will not allow it,” he said.
Palekar further demanded for a review in the education policy and giving liberties to the Education Director to make decisions, which he said will make a difference in the education sector.
