AAP wants Quepem garbage treatment plant started soon

PANAJI
Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday protested against the hike in garbage collection tax by the Quepem Municipal Council especially given the fact that the garbage treatment plant installed is not being used at all and asked the Chief Officer to get everything working as soon as possible.

AAP volunteers led by Patricia Fernandes called on the Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar who pleaded for time to study the matter and take necessary action. Patricia who has been following the garbage management at Quepem for some years said earlier the municipality used to simply burn the garbage. “In 2019 after I video recorded the municipality burning the garbage and publicised it the Quepem Municipal Council that came under a lot of flak announced plans to increase the garbage collection tax from Re 1 per day to Rs 2 per day,” she revealed.

Patricia demanded that the plant be made operational immediately as people from Quepem are paying increased garbage collection tax.
