Superintendent of Police, South Pankaj Kumar Singh has said that accused Prakash Deikar, a resident of Ambaulim-Quepem who was absconding for the past two years was arrested late night by South Goa Police team.
SP Singh said the accused was allegedly wanted in Quepem PS Case No. 74/2019 registered u/s 406 and 420 of IPC. He said the accused was allegedly involved in duping many innocent Goans causing cumulative loss of crores of rupees on the pretext of selling land. He was staying away from his family members and was frequently visiting nearby states for refuge in an attempt to hide from the police.
The district police chief said the accused was traced by excellent effort of three PSIs of South Goa Police team Mayur Sawant, Swadesh Dessai and Jaideep Amre. He was caught by the Quepem police station staff while he was planning to flee away from the State.
Further investigation is being carried out by IO PSI Mayur Sawant to identify other victims of cheating and trace money cheated from the innocent public under the supervision of PI Deepak Pednekar and SDPO Shivendu Bhushan IPS.
