Various activists have slammed the PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral for his statement that Janata Darbars are not for activists.
The statement was made by the minister after some activists put their queries before the minister at the Janata Darbar in Mapusa on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at Azad Maidan on Tuesday, Xencor Polgi, one of the activists who attended the Janata Darbar, slammed the minister for stating that activists should not attend Janata Darbar.
“Even though I am an activist I am also a common citizen and I have every right to question the administration and the ministers when such public programmes are held,” Polgi opined.
“If Cabral had problems with activists attending the Janata Darbar, he should not have answered my questions in the first place. He should have stopped me at that moment itself,” Polgi informed.
He sought to know why Cabral had made the statement to the media after the Janata Darbar got over, and slammed the arrogant attitude of the minister during the event.
Another activist, Sanjay Barde, also criticised the minister for the way he conducted himself at the Janata Darbar.
“When Janata Darbars are held, the minister is supposed to listen patiently to the public and try to resolve the issues,” Barde said.
“But this was not the case at Mapusa. The minister was rude in his behaviour and was constantly telling the speakers to sit down. Also, he treated the government officials like dirt while giving them directions to resolves issues,” informed Barde and challenged that the minister won’t be able to resolve issues within 8 days as directed.
