Gurudas Pilarnkar took over as administrator of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) on Monday and assured that people need not worry as all works of the council would be carried out without any hindrance thorough the administrator.
Shortly after joining duties, Pilarnkar convened meetings with staff, engineers and officials of the technical and administrative sections, to get a better understanding of the functioning of MMC.
Speaking to media, Pilarnkar said that people need not be apprehensive about the appointment of the administrator.
“All works of the council pertaining to common people will be carried out without any hindrance thorough the administrator.”
"We have an administrator only because the council has been dissolved on completion of its tenure and works that are already going on will continue.”
“There will be no issues at all but any decision on policy making is only made by the council and hence, we will not engage in any policy decisions. The administrator has been appointed only to ensure there is no halt in the flow of works in the absence of the council.”
“There is a feeling amid people that things will come to a standstill after the council has been dissolved, but this is not true," said Pilarnkar.
The MMC Chief officer Arvind Bugde said the new administrator was very experienced and would carry out all works of the common man and there was no cause for concern.
"Pilarnkar is an experienced person and has worked in various departments. He is well aware of issues and difficulties faced by the people and he will take up works as required by the people and there is no reason to worry," said Bugde.
