Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo has encouraged Goan youth to become 'Atmanirbhar' by selling Goan delicacies. The Fisheries and the Agriculture departments have many schemes for the youth. Lobo will need to create new schemes for Goenkar in his Department too.
We need to encourage Goenkars to take up contracts for waste management at different Panchayats. With a little scientific impetus and transport vehicle incentives, this will help the youths to buy new scientific garbage vehicles/three-wheelers for making proper collection of waste at source. There is big money in waste management contracts.
Let’s hope the Minister for Waste Management will think out of the box in creating more schemes from his dept. We need to stop encouraging backwater tourism as one can see hinterland tourism has turned into a drug cartel business for many tourists and even to the extent of growing weeds in these rented houses/flats.
Backwater tourism will open up Marinas and casinos. The back water should be used to start open cage fish growing that will create lots of job opportunities for the youth. Hope the ministers are listening.
