The Agriculture Department has announced providing high-quality paddy seeds at subsidized rates for a prosperous Kharif season.
In a press statement, the department revealed comprehensive preparations to support farmers, including the availability of Jaya, Jyothi, and Karjat paddy seed varieties. These seeds are being offered at a 50 per cent subsidy at all state seed outlets.
"The farmers are advised to renew their paddy seeds every three years to enhance yields. Farmers seeking further assistance or services can visit their local Zonal Agriculture offices," Agriculture Director Neville Alphonso said, in the press note.
The department is also encouraging kitchen gardening by making available vegetable seeds at a 50 per cent subsidy for the general public.
"For field ploughing and crop cultivation, tractors can be hired at 50 per cent subsidized rates through the Zonal Agriculture Offices. Additionally, paddy seedling transplanters are available at half the rental cost, making advanced farming machinery more accessible," it added.
Custom Service Centres, established by farmer groups and societies, provide the latest agricultural machinery to ensure efficient farming. Planting materials for fruits like mango, coconut, cashew, guava, and chikoo are offered at reasonable prices to promote the growth of these crops.
