MARGAO
With the Election code of conduct expecting to come into force early next month, the South Goa Zilla panchayat is rushing with the process to tender works and to issue work orders to the contractors.
In fact, hectic activity is seen at the South Zilla Panchayat to float fresh tenders and to issue work orders to the eligible contactors before the Election code of conduct comes into force early next month.
South ZP CEO Florina Colaco said the office has decided to float tenders of works which has complied with the process in force. “We are not keeping any works pending if the process is completed. Balance fund will be spent on the works by floating the tenders”, she said.
She further pointed out that the office is in the process of issuing work orders to the eligible contractors. Sources pointed out that issuance of work orders will come to a halt once the code of conduct comes into force.
Chairperson Anita Thorat further pointed the ZP office has issued 90 per cent of the work orders to the contractors. She said balance works will be tendered in the next eight days.
