MARGAO
As the five-year term of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat (ZP) draws to a close, the district body is still without a dedicated Zilla Panchayat Bhavan. The long-pending project has once again failed to materialize.
ZP Chairperson Anita Thorat said the Panchayat has passed a resolution to set up the Bhavan at Davorlim village, on a portion of government-acquired land earmarked for the proposed Margao education hub. The resolution has been sent to the Director of Panchayats, and Thorat said she and her team are following up personally with Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho.
“We have set in motion the process toward establishing the Zilla Panchayat Bhavan and received positive signals from the government,” Thorat said, adding that the proposal will, however, take time to materialize.
