Aldona MLA promises safety measures at Corjuem ramp

MAPUSA

Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira visited the defunct ferry ramp in Corjuem where two tourists narrowly escaped when their jeep plunged into the river and reviewed the situation, while also assuring locals of immediate safety measures.

Ferreira said that necessary precautionary installations, including barricades, reflectors and warning signage, would be taken up on priority to prevent such incidents in the future.

“This incident is a wake-up call. We will ensure proper safety barriers and visible signs at all ferry points,” he said.

Issuing a word of caution, the MLA also advised tourists to exercise greater care while driving in unfamiliar terrain.

“Goa has many narrow and interior roads, which can be risky at night or along water bodies. Visitors must remain alert and not rely blindly on Google Maps,” Ferreira warned.

Local residents echoed the concern, demanding that authorities install reflectors and clear signage at ferry ramps across the constituency, particularly during the monsoon and late-night hours when visibility is poor.
