Local tourist taxi drivers in Anjuna on Friday decided that app-based taxi service GoaMiles will not be allowed to enter in the village.
They also expressed disappointment with the State government for failing to come up with a resolution.
“By bringing corporate businessmen in Goa, the State government is attempting to end the employment of locals,” said North Goa Taxi Owner’s Association member Yogesh Govekar.
“We have been raising our voice since the past three years, but the government is not ready to listen.”
“The rates for tourist taxis should be the same but while State government has given us different rates through transport department, the GoaMiles app-based taxi service gets another rate by the GTDC. We will fight till this app-based service is cancelled,” Govekar added.
He also that a small state like Goa did not need app-based taxi services.
Ramachandra Talankar said their taxi drivers were beaten up at Dabolim and hence, they would not allow any app-based taxis to enter the village.
