OLD GOA
In a major victory to the five Deendayal kiosk owners whose kiosks were demolished in the recent demolition outside GMC, authorities conducted demarcation of an area for relocation of the kiosks on the directives of the High Court.
Speaking to reporters, a petitioner said they were allotted the kiosks under the Deendayal Swayam Rojgar Yojana of Goa Handicrafts, Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation and that they had all permissions to run the kiosks.
“But despite that, authorities arbitrarily and in violation of the principle of natural justice demolished all the kiosks. We had challenged the same and approached the High Court, which directed authorities concerned to demarcate a space for relocation of the kiosks,” the petitioner said.
The petitioner added that authorities had visited the area on Tuesday and proposed a place for rehabilitation.
“This proposal will be put forth to the High Court at the next hearing. It was not a demolition order but an encroachment order and directions were given to shift. There was also no time limit for shifting,” the petitioner pointed out.
