The Anjuna police have arrested Kelfa alias Cleophas Fernandes, aged 45, from Baga, Arpora on charges of abusing and assaulting the club workers near the Vagalumme Night Club in Baga, Arpora. The accused is a habitual offender and has several cases registered against him with the police.
The incident took place on December 6 at around 5 pm near the Baga Creek. The accused Kelfa went near the staff room of the Vagalumme Night Club and abused the club workers there.
The complainant Ritu Raj Mandal, aged 30, from Bihar and his colleagues Govind Magar, Amar Sharma (both from Maharashtra), Steve (Manipur) and Vivek Kumar (Jharkhand) were assaulted with kicks and wooden batons. All five of them sustained injuries. The injured were treated at Candolim Primary Health Centre and later discharged.
On receipt of the information about the incident, Anjuna police went to the spot, conducted a panchnama and registered a case against the accused Kelfa under sections 352, 115(2), 118(1) of the BNS and arrested him. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Shingadi.
