Bardez Deputy Collector Kapil Phadte was on Wednesday caught off guard after a couple abused him in his cabin for denying permission to hold a thread ceremony.
In a complaint to Mapusa Police, Phadte said a woman and a man entered into his office and sought permission for a thread ceremony with the dealing hand on duty.
He said the dealing hand politely informed the couple that the permission cannot be granted as per Section 144 of CrPC imposed by the North Goa Collector. He said the two were very aggressive in their behaviour with the dealing hand.
The deputy collector further informed that the couple then entered his cabin and requested for permission to hold the ceremony.
“When I informed them that such a permission cannot be given in the light of the North Goa Collector order, the male person abused me with filthy language and threatened with dire consequences,” Phadte said.
Till late in the night, Mapusa Police were yet to register a complaint in the matter.
