The State government is pushing to enhance mobile and internet connectivity by facilitating installation of towers at some 200 locations in two phases.
Mobile towers will be erected at 62 locations in the first phase. In the second phase 138 more will be set up, which will "greatly improve" connectivity in the State, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.
Sawant said, all sections including students and the IT sector will benefit from the improved connectivity.
Poor connectivity, particularly in the far flung hinterland regions in Goa proved daunting in the pandemic hit 2020, forcing the government to refrain from formally directing schools and institutions to function fully in the online mode.
Currently, academic work in schools and colleges is partially also being conducted in the physical mode.
The government has also mandated that final examinations for class X and XII will be conducted in physical mode in April-May by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).
Final year exams for degree and post-graduate students are also proposed to be held in offline mode.
