BJP’s St Cruz aspirants pledge to work unitedly

OLD GOA

Even as the BJP has prolonged the announcement of its candidate for St Cruz constituency, the St Cruz BJP block launched the election campaign by offering prayers at various religious places.

The campaign was launched on Monday, with leading aspirants MLA Tony Fernandes, Anil Hoble, Girish Uskaikar and Hemant Golatkar remaining present.

Another aspirant Agnel da Cunha, who is apparently being promoted by Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserratte, was conspicuous by his absence.

St Cruz BJP Block President Pramod Kamat and other members were also present.

Speaking to The Goan during the campaign, MLA Fernandes said they have begun the campaign after a decision to this effect was taken by the St Cruz block.

“There are five aspirants and whoever gets the ticket, we will all be together,” Fernandes stated.

When questioned if they would still remain together when the candidate is announced, Fernandes reiterated, “We have taken a decision that we will work unitedly for the party. Whoever gets the ticket we will work for him.”

On his part, Anil Hoble also said all the aspirants have decided to work for the candidate who gets the ticket.

“We all are united but there is only one condition that we won’t work for a candidate from outside the constituency,” Hoble stated in an apparent mention to Cunha’s claim for the ticket.

Earlier, the St Cruz BJP leaders offered prayers at Shree Ram temple and Chimbelkarin temple in Chimbel, Hanuman temple, Sateri temple and St Cajetan Chapel in Merces, Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz and other religious places.

On the campaign, Hoble said that they have started the campaign as they didn’t want to be left behind as other political parties have already started their campaign.

“If we are united, we will definitely win,” Hoble said and stated that he is cent percent sure that BJP will create history by winning the St Cruz seat for the first time.

When questioned whether they will still remain united after declaration of the candidate, Hoble replied with a definite yes.
