Bungalow burgled at Chicalim, goods worth Rs 1.6 L stolen

Goods worth Rs 1.6 lakhs were burgled from an unoccupied house belonging to one Joseph Sequeira at Chicalim on Sunday.

" We received a complaint from one Assis Sequeira of Nuvem that burglars had broken open the window grills of the windows in the living room of his brother’s bungalow,” said Vasco PI Kapil Nayak.

“Assis said his brother had recently gone out of the country and that the bungalow at Chicalim was unoccupied at the time of the burglary.”

“We went to the site and noticed that every room was ransacked and the complainant called his brother to find what valuables and belongings were in the house and he was informed that there were two watches, two earrings, 500 pounds and cash of Rs 30,000, which is missing.”

“When we checked, we saw two people in the age group of 50 plus years entering the house and the entire incident was captured on CCTV footage. We have taken the footage and we are investigating the case," said Nayak.

Vasco police have registered the offence under Sections 457, 380 read with 34 IPC and PSI Swapnil Naik is further investigating the case under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
