Caculo Mall to Tonca STP road to be resurfaced within 2 weeks: Govt to HC

PANAJI

The State government has informed the Bombay High Court at Goa that the road from Caculo Mall to STP Tonca, currently in poor condition, will be resurfaced with dry lean concrete within two weeks, subject to favorable weather conditions.

In its submission on Friday, Advocate General Devidas Pangam stated that once the works are complete, it will facilitate smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement.

The Division Bench of Justice MS Karnik and Justice Valmiki Menezes is hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the haphazard and substandard works carried out in Panaji under Smart City project.

The AG also stated that the laying of the sewage line from Tad Mad Temple to STP Bridge is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2025 and will be completed by February 5, 2025.

The petitioners further pointed out that 12 road stretches require urgent attention as the incomplete works are causing serious impediments to traffic flow. Pangam assured the Court that these concerns would be addressed immediately. The matter is adjourned for further hearing on August 27.
