MARGAO
The men-in-uniform have stressed on the need for awareness amongst the public as the number of cybercrimes have seen a rise in South Goa district.
District Superintendent of police, Abhishek Dhania told the media that the police stations across South Goa had registered around 56 cases of cheating last year, of which 28 cases were detected. He, however, hastened to add that almost 44 per cent of the cheating cases were cybercrimes.
“The same story continues in the first three months of the current year, with cybercrimes cases showing a rise”, he said.
The district Police Chief, however, said that increased level of awareness amongst the people can help to nip cybercrimes in the bud.
“The only way to prevent cybercrimes is through awareness how to make the citizens avoid falling into the trap”, he said.
