CANACONA
The Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC) has so far conducted a total of 3,872 Covid antigen tests since they were first introduced in the taluka on August 10.
Of these Covid antigen tests, as many as 3,338 tests were negative, 534 positive patients were quarantined at different Covid care centres (Margao, Colva, Shiroda and Farmagudi), Covid Hospital (ESI hospital) and later in home quarantine of the affected patients.
According to Canacona Health Officer Dr Vandana Desai, eight new Covid cases were detected in the antigen tests conducted at the CHC, taking the overall count to 612 and active cases to 117.
Ten Covid infected persons passed away, while 493 patients recovered from the virus.
Before introducing the antigen tests, the Canacona CHC had also collected swab samples and got the tests done at government labs either in Ponda or Margao.
Of these 78 cases which tested positive, some patients from Canacona had got their tests conducted privately and or at government labs elsewhere in the State.
