CCP Mayor flags delay in Smart City work

PANAJI

The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Rohit Monserrate has expressed concern over the continuing presence of contractors working on 'smart city' residual works in the city which is impeding the civic body's pre-monsoon work of clearing surface drains of silt.

Monserrate, who incidentally is also a member of the board at Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), also said the exclusion of the 18th June Road and Pissurlekar Road from the purview of their work has meant that the main drains where storm water accumulates have not been done.

"We will have to see through which department we can now get it done," Monserrate said while also expressing disgust at the state of the city and the quality of work done by IPSCDL.

"They should just finish as soon as possible and leave the city,"

Meanwhile, Monserrate said some of the city's roads will be hot-mixed and the tenders are being taken up by the PWD. He however did not specify which of the roads will be taken up.
