PANAJI
The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), especially its Solid Waste Management Cell, is all geared up to shoulder the responsibility of ensuring the IFFI venues and precincts are periodically cleaned and the waste cleared.
CCP sources said the INOX complex and the Entertainment Society of Goa's (ESG) Maquinez Palace will be the capital city's civic body's responsibility vis-a-vis cleanliness and regularly clearing solid waste.
The CCP also charges the IFFI organisers a fee for the service.
Meanwhile, as the capital city readies to host yet another edition of IFFI from Thursday, contractors and labourers were seen engaged in frenzied activity in an attempt to clear the debris which was strewn all over the city where 'Smart City' work was carried out.
Work related to redesigning of footpaths lining the city's streets is continuing which is causing some inconvenience to residents and commuters.
