The construction of a bypass route for diverting traffic during the third phase of the six-lane elevated corridor project in Porvorim is expected to be completed by December 15, according to Jude Carvalho, Executive Engineer (National Highways), Public Works Department (PWD).
Carvalho stated that the bypass will connect the road stretch from Damian de Goa to Chogm Road, providing an alternate route for vehicles once the next phase of construction begins.
“From December 15, the third phase of work on the elevated corridor, stretching from Damian de Goa to O’Coqueiro, will commence. All traffic will then be diverted through this bypass to Chogm Road,” he confirmed.
The third phase is part of an ongoing effort to develop the elevated corridor aimed at easing congestion in Porvorim.
This diversion is expected to mitigate traffic disruptions caused by the construction activities, which have significantly impacted commuters along the existing highway.
PWD officials have assured that necessary arrangements will be made to manage traffic smoothly during the diversion period.
Meanwhile, the authorities are urging motorists to cooperate with the new traffic plan to ensure safety and efficiency.
The elevated corridor project, a critical infrastructure initiative for the region, is being executed in phases to minimize inconvenience while addressing long-term traffic challenges in the area.
