Chicalim gram sabha discusses agriculture policy, parking issues

The Chicalim gram sabha on Sunday discussed various issues pertaining to the village with issues of Agriculture policy and parking issues taking the lead. 

Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav also announced during the gramsabha that the panchayat will soon go online and a website would be developed for the people. 

Speaking to media after the gramsabha, resident Rui Araujo said that it was vital that an agricultural policy be maintained in a village like Chicalim. 

" We had placed the agricultural policy in the gramsabha. Agriculture land must not be sold to non agriculturists which could cause a disaster to whole of Goa . Agriculture lands , rice fields and even khazan lands must not be allowed to be sold nor transferred . We have to make efforts to motivate people into cultivation and forming farmers clubs in villages is of utmost importance. All the points and recommendations made by the farmers and Chicalim Youth Farmers club will be complied together and sent forth to the agriculture department," said Araujo. 

Panch Fransisco Nunes raised the issue of parking in different parts of the village. 

" We have some issues where vehicles are double parked at Naquelim area which causes traffic congestion and pose danger, especially to the students. The panchayat has requested these people on many occasions and now a resolution has been taken to the the issue with the Traffic department or even take a delegation to the Traffic PI and sort this issues once and for all," said Nunes. 

Meanwhile Chicalim Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav announced that the Chicalim Panchayat will go online soon. 

"The Chicalim Panchayat will also go online soon and we will develop a website where people can pay their house taxes , commercial taxes and other payments sitting at home. The website can also be used to register their complaints and grievances online at a click of the button," said Yadav.
