The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights on Monday reviewed the child protection scenario in Goa amidst the ravaging second wave of Covid-19 infections.
The meeting was chaired by Peter Borges and attended by Nodal Childline Coordinator for Goa, Divya Raphael along with Ana Fernandes, Coordinator, Konkan Railway Childline, Suraya Borges, Coordinator, South Goa Childline and Evelyn Fernandes, Coordinator, North Goa Childline.
A detailed discussion was held on various issues related to children like food security, psychosocial support, linking children in need of care and protection to coordinated COVID-19 care, temporary shelter home for children affected by COVID-19.
Borges also shared information about Standard Operating Procedure for care and protection of children in street situations developed by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and also online system for Care and protection of children in street situations.
While reviewing the work done by Childline Goa team, Borges advocated close coordination among different departments and agencies to safeguard the rights of the child, besides providing care and protection to those in distress.
